    [Misc] 7545 or 7556

Good afternoon all, I have a question that is for you Xerox guys, as I am a Ricoh guy. We received a 7545 with a low copy count, and on the test pages the configuration does not show the 7545 it shows a 7556 - also there is a place where the serial numbers do not match - could this be a configuration error when the panel programing took place? Also on the front panel the model shows as a 7545 - I have not had an opportunity to run a speed test with 45 pages to see how fast it prints but I will do this next week. Can the panel be reprogramed? I know this can be done on a Ricoh to correct the model number, counters etc... or does this require a new board, or chipset? I am not very familiar with these newer Xerox's - is there a way to check on the service history to print out the long service config sheets? On the Ricoh you can print out the 20 page reports that list everything in the history of the machine (some tells cannot be changed, and this is what I am looking for to see if this was possibly reprogramed.) I am very curious to see jam history, and the total fuser revolutions. Any help, or insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

No one has any info here? Where are the Xerox guys? Also if this is not the correct place to post - where might be the more appropriate spot for me to get an answer?

          Re: 7545 or 7556

          This is curious to me.

First the serial number mismatch. What is mismatched? The config page vs the label on the machine?
As a security precaution the serial number is saved in three different places on three different boards. There is a specific process on how to replace these boards as to keep the serial number in sync. If this process is not followed, there is a process to reserialize the machine with Xerox. Xerox will charge a hefty amount to do this.

As to speed, there is a sim card that needs to be inserted on setup. This is what sets the speed of the machine. The sim cards are programmed with speed and serial so they cannot be changed to different machines. The hardware for a 7545 is identical to a 7556, but not identical to a 7525, 7530, or 7535.

I have a couple of theories on what may have happened, and can discuss further, but I would need a few questions answered. As for a short answer, I wouldn't even think of leasing this machine, as serial number mismatches throw up huge red flags.

Did this machine come from a reputable source?

Thank you very much for the reply - Yes the machine did come from a very reputable source. It seems as maybe the customer received the machine and immediately got a fuser error, and the Screen to do any type of adjustments on the copies is displaying the 7556, and of course the model on the front of the machine is showing a 7545. Also it seems as if I had a bit of misinformation - the serial on the tag does indeed match the serial on the config screen the only difference is the model on the screen is showing 7556 and the machine is definitely only pumping out 45 copies a minute from button press after warm up. We replaced the fuser and that seemed to have cleared up the fuser problem, I would still like to know how to print out the long service history and all timers sheets.

You cannot print history, it is not Ricoh. You can view the history. Hit machine status button, faults tab, history.

You can print a configuration page. Hit machine status button, then there is a soft button, I believe it is reports, and then highlight config and hit print soft button.

Perhaps it is a 56 machine and the cover was damaged and replace with the wrong spare. They seem to be slow machines and don't really live up to the rated speed, unless under the perfect conditions.
