There can be numerous causes for developer bead carry over on the 510. Start off by cleaning the machine. Test the erase LED, check for scratches in the drum, bent pins on the D/T pin array, and bad developer seals.

I take it from your responses that you are not well versed servicing the machine. No crime in that, just makes for a challenge as there is much to be understood about this machine in order to keep it running reliably. Do you know how to place the machine in the diagnostic mode? Have you had the machine open to service the drum area? If not, you may be biting off more than you anticipate. Certainly more than can bve easily expained in a forum like this.

If you would like a recommendation for a competent service company in your area, I can help with that. Our customer base are qualified wide format service companies around the US. If you are outside the US, I may be able to help based upon where you are located.

The Detack Assembly is located in front of the BTR roller, which is part of the media transport. You have to raise the Xerographic module up into the service position in order to access these part. Developer often gets down into this unit, along with the BTR channel. So normal maintenance requires removing both the D/T pin array, and the BTR roller. Once removed, vacuum out both channels. There are two black plastic guides that snap onto the BTR channel which covers the D/T pin array. Then clean and inspect the pin array looking for bent pins. Clean the pin array carefully, and never use a towel, or anything else that could transfer lint onto the pins.
