    Xerox 7500 blowing Magenta

    Hi All,
I have a customer that I am trying to help out with their color printer. It is a Xerox 7500 and it is blowing Magenta toner everywhere inside and some places outside the machine. It is calling for a Magenta Imaging Unit which is only the drum. I know that will not resolve the issue as it is obviously going to need at least a Magenta DV change. It has about 70,000 pages on it. My question is on this model, can this type of service be done by a guy with 30 plus years of printer/copier experience (primarily Konica Minolta) or is this a Xerox model that requires a laptop to adjust/calibrate the developer for example?
They are leaning towards replacing it but I want to give them all the options at my disposal. Of course you know I do not WANT to fix it )

This machine looks identical to the Xerox 7545 (minus the scanner and full color touch screen).
Just to make sure that the problem is not the drum cartridge, swap the magenta with yellow (all drums are identical and can be swapped with each other).
If after the swap you still have a magenta problem I would suspect the developer unit. With the WC7545 a laptop is not required for calibration but I'm not sure about the phaser 7500 due to its limited LCD display. Another thought, is the toner dumping just at the front? Maybe it has to do with the toner supply unit that takes the toner from the cartridge and delivers it to the drum. Maybe the auger on the drum is broken that would cause a backup of toner from the supply unit and possible spillage.

No the Magenta toner is everywhere. All over the inside around the Magenta drum unit, DV Unit, back side of the transfer belt unit and even in the cooling fans. It looks exactly like either worn DV or way overtoned causing the mag roller to dust toner when it spins.
