[Error Code] xerox docucolor 240 error code 024-958 through bypass tray

I can't get the bypass tray to recognize the right size paper. I switched the bypass tray with another machine and the copier will still not recognize the right size paper. Sometimes it will work with 8 1/2 x 11 feeding the short edge first for a couple sheets, then goes back to not recognizing the paper it just fed.

Any suggestions?

I think that is a communication error. I would start at the connector where the bypass plugs into, inspect for damage, loose pins and then follow the harness back to the board.
