    Xerox Engineering System Syergix Scanner

Good Day I am having a problem with a xerox scanner that is not coming to ready .
when powered on, intialising starts and stops on screen that says firmware version and ok.
the panal is not responding and nothing happens. The printer side works. There is a P on the display in
the back of scanner but the dot is not there.

    Please help.

Actually, the lack of a "." after the "P" indicates the scanner and controller are not connected. This explains why you are seeing the dispaly condition as the display does not work without communicating with the controller.

First, assure the boot up procedure is correct. Boot up the scanner and wait until it displayes the "P", then boot up the controller. If you follow this and the "P." does not display, then there is a communication issue between scanner and controller.

Try moving the fire wire cable to a different port on the scanner then reboot scanner, wait for the P then boot up the controller. If this does not work, then it becomes a question of which is bad, the fire wire cable (unlikely unless it is physically damaged) scanner main board, or controller main board. Unless you have another system that you can try connecting the scanner to, or another controller to connect the scanner to, it is a process of elimination. The fire wire port on either the scanner or controller are both known to fail. We can supply both main boards at a deep discount, but you are still looking at a reasonably expensive fix.

Let me know if I may help. - Carl cbyrne@goevergreen.net

Serial Cable, Use Putty, and check that the OS is booting OK on the server.
