Re: WC 7328 lighter toward fron of copier

Thanks Scarecrow. I have only the Phaser 7760 manual that has similar setup with the drums, developer etc. The finisher in that manual is different. I can't seem to get the WC7328 series service manual. I know the dv units are a pain to take out. I don't understand why Xerox would have made them so inaccessible.
When I pulled the transfer belt halfway to examine and then pushed back in the prints started coming out okay on the black. This makes me think that it may have something to do with transfer from drum to belt.. Customer said he had very hard time removing drum unit and was pulling hard and actually was moving machine. He finally got it out and when he reinstalled he got loud noise.
I am going there tomorrow (Thurs) morning check it further. Frank

The rail that the black drum slides on is bent. I had a customer do the same thing. The part # is 122K93341 for the K rail. The rails for the color drums are 122K93331.
Its a pain in the ass to replace. You need to get your hands on a service manual some how.

The act of moving the drums away from the transfer belt (when you moved the belt assembly out a little and then back in and had the image quality look good for a little while) was what probably helped for a short time. The whole rail raises and lowers to move the drums. It probably sat just right for a little before slipping back away from the transfer belt in the front. Take off the front cover and observe the drums as you move them into the locked position. You'll most likely notice that the color drums lower straight down but the black drum does a little side shift just before its all the way locked down. That's from the rail being bent.

There are 2 screws that hold the front of the transfer assm in place. The chances of either or both missing is close to 0. Why copies are ok sometimes is a little strange - leads me to think that the drum is not in the "home" position. Call me if you run into a problem - I'm in NY. See your messages. I will try to leave you my #.

Thank you Suresh. However My Avira antivirus is saying that the PWSLOCK.EXE contains a TR/PATCHED.GEN Trojan Virus and wants to quarantine. I looked it up and it sounds scary. Please give me your in input. Frank
