Hello again everyone! Can anyone tell me the specific identity of the RFID chips found in Docucolor 240/250/242/252/260 machines? Can they be reset using RFID Reader/ Writers? Thanks for your help.

Re: Identity of Docucolor 250 RFID Chips
I don't believe they're programmable. They're hard coded to a particular card type, HID Prox, MiFare etc. If you can manage to open up the panels and access the internal reader, it should specify the brand of reader on the back of the unit and maybe the card type in reads. The administrator manual for the MFP may be able to narrow it down for you.
The best way to answer this would be to contact your local Xerox or Fuji Xerox dealer.Last edited by ApeosMan; 01-05-2014, 05:35 AM.Comment

There is a world of information on the internet that explains how smart cards/RFID's work. Smart cards are used on MFP's for security and if needed cost recovery too. The card numbers are either stored on the device locally or on a cost recovery program located on a server.Comment

Re: Identity of Docucolor 250 RFID Chips
Hello Apeosman! The Local Xerox people in my country are not helpful at all. All they want to know is the serial number of my Docucolor and after that they tell me the machine is not listed on their server and therefore they can't help me. I was thinking whether regular 125 khz RFID reader/writers could do the job. Or maybe some NVM values could be manipulated inside the machine to decrease the counter of the chips. I am particularly unaware regarding the working of the RFID chips. Do the counters inside the chips themselves decrease per click or does the machine only store the chip serial number and does the math on its own?Comment

Re: Identity of Docucolor 250 RFID Chips
A very odd thing I noticed while changing the magenta chip on my docucolor 250. It showed 0 %. But after I changed the machine config from Xerox to FUJI Xerox that same chip showed 25% and is still going strong after 5000 12x18 prints. Can anyone enlighten me?Comment

Re: Identity of Docucolor 250 RFID Chips
Hy
The chip is programed to run up 34.000 copies of course your cartridges don't go that far, but when you remove a cartridge and insert another the machine will forget the last one (chip) and if you reinstall the last one(that was on 0%) it will show 20 or 25% because it didnt ran the 34.000 prints.
I'm still waiting for a resetter for my chips for xerox 560
