hello the problem is the following, the copier doesn't initilize then ten minutes appears on display green,red,blue and white , the fuser is ok and the principal motor is turn, maybe is the hard disk , what can i do to solve it thanks in advance.

Try doing a Forced AltBoot. You can get the latest general release software here WorkCentre 5735/5740/5745/5755 Drivers & Downloads .
Download and unzip the DLM file.
Create a "FORCED_UPGRADE" file by creating a new text document, do not enter any data in the text field. Name the file FORCED_UPGRADE. After the file is made, go back and delete the .TXT file extension.
On a USB flashdrive, create a folder named "AltBoot"
Copy the DLM file and the FORCED_UPGRADE file into the AltBoot folder.
Switch off the machine.
Plug the flash drive into one of the 2 USB ports on the back of the single board controller.
Switch on the machine.
Follow instructions on the display screen until software loading is complete.

The System Software can be found on www.xerox.com. Go to Support - All Support - type in 5740 in search box and highlight machine below - scroll to end of page - both sets of software packages will work. This model is the 61.xx series software. Once download - unzip files. From this point refer to the step by step instructions that the previous poster wrote. Make sure the USB Thumbdrive is 2GB min and the files stated above are the only ones on it. This will shorten the time it takes for the machine to locate and execute software download.
