Xerox Colorqube 9303 Cyan Streaking photo attached

    Hi,

I have a Xerox Colorqube 9303 with non printing jets. It is just in the cyan. I've cleaned the jets multiple times with some slight improvement. If anyone could tell me the steps that they have used in the past to work through this problem I'd greatly appreciate any input.

    - Thanks

It looks like you will need to replace printhead# 2

      Flash,

Do you know if all 4 colors are the same printhead: part number?

All 4 print heads have all 4 colors. If the void streaks are all from one print head and doing multiple purges does no help, I'd have to agree. Replace the problem print head.

Part # for print head is 604K83791 (type B print heads are the only one available now)

*NOTE* take care to never touch the face plate of a printhead with your fingers. This can damage the printhead.

If your machine currently has a type A print head you'll also need new cables to install the type B head.
        Part #s 117E37130 and 117E37140.

Type A cables require you to squeeze the release clips together to disconnect.
Type B cables require you to lift up on the latch to disconnect.

When you install the new print head, take caution to remove the face plate cover and umbilical port cover from the new printhead.
If there is solidified ink on the umbilical nozzles, carefully remove the ink (rings).
When screwing the printhead back on, start by rotating the left screw 2 rotations then alternate between the screws doing about 2 revolutions per screw.

Perform the following procedures in order:
dC972, printhead uniformity. select option 1. select the manual procedure and all 4 heads.
dC131, check the following NVM values.
490-020. The value must be 0. If necessary change the value to 0.
490-021. If the value is 2, change to 1. If value is 0, 1 or 3, do not change the value.

            Hi Exok,

I tried to perform the dc972 like you suggested and a prompt came up telling me I had to do the dc971 first. So I started that and after a couple of minutes I got this error "Set Alignment Baseline Failed". Now the replaced printhead works great no streaks! But if I try and run the basic "light streaks" cleaning it won't do it. And I have a few light steaks in the printing. Is there a way to reset the copier so I can have this pass its tests? Any help would be appreciated I'm new to this model Xerox.

            Thanks Mark

From looking at the test print it looks like one of the couplers that moves the print heads from side to side has a crack in it. They are made out of plastic. The new ones are metal. Let me know if you need the innovator kit number. It contains 6 couplers and a removal tool. A cracked coupler will cause DC971 to fail.

I agree with Flash. Check the couplers.

                  Hi,

I looked at the Colorqube. And then the service manual and I can't see or find a coupler listed. Would you happen to know the part number? All the supporting brackets around the printheads appear to be metal. The shafts that slide left and right do so on a brass bushing and I don't see any cracks on the outer cover encasing the bushing.

The part# for the couplers is 655N00479. They go on the end of the stitch and roll motors. It looks like you only need to replace one of the stitch motor couplers. When you screw the new coupler in 2-3 threads should be showing on each side of the brass inserts. If you have access to Eureka check Doc# 1056514.

                      Flash,

You were right. One of the plastic couplers is cracked. I tried looking up that part # on the Web and I came up empty. Do you know where I can purchase these couplers?

                      - Thanks Mark
