[Misc] DC260 Too much yellow dispensing - dusting machine

Can anyone please tell me if a shutter in the dispenser unit that won't shut would allow this much toner to dump in and dust all over the inside of a DocuColor 260? Or is there another possible cause. Dispenser motor is good and spins with (093-006).

I had all units cleaned out on the machine which included IBT belt cleaner, transfer belt, 2nd bia unit, etc. This occurred after about 4000 color copies and the rest of the run started showing signs of background yellow, dirty paper edge, and a ROS banding. ** New ROS replaced two months ago. Banding from the window due to excess yellow toner **

I recently replaced the black developer housing and developer as well as the black dispenser motor. Maybe I messed up something on the yellow dispenser that was overlooked. I know the shutter is not moving and closed as it should be when the toner cartridge is removed.

I am a novice. Any help is greatly appreciated. Not finding anything in the manual for this one.

    Do you use oem toner?

Did you check yellow atc sensor?

What reading you have from atc sensors in diagostic?

I mostly use OEM but have to admit using refill toner in a pinch.

The reading was 278 for the yellow ATC sensor (752-130).

On a side note... I have a common repeat fault of 042-603 (Suction Filter end of life). Researching that one to see if it affects yellow or all colors.

If you dont want to buy a new one. Remove the Ozone filter and remove as much toner as possible into a trash bag. Using compressed air (strongly recommended you go outside) blow the remaining toner out.

I suggest you keep it clean to prevent further ROS issues.

I do vacuum out the ozone filter monthly if not before. I just bought the right fitting for my air compressor and will get it a more thorough cleaning until I can buy a new one.

I have a technician coming out today. They are pointing to the developer unit, which was replaced about a year ago. While investigating I noticed that the double prong piece at the front of the machine was not inserted properly. I wonder if that could have caused damage to the yellow developer unit. Any thoughts?

Sure, that is possible. If the developer unit was not seated correctly it would not make a proper seal against the drum and that could allow toner dusting to occur.

Seems like the biggest culprit was a blocked tube in the back that was not allowing yellow to make it to the waste container. It would back up and have no where to go. This caused dusting all over, including inside the ROS units, for many, many months resulting in numerous service calls to clean out the yellow. Hopefully this is the end to this $$$ sucker and I can go on with a clean machine.

The technicians spend almost five hours working on it today. Walked away not being able to get the ROS cleaned out. Will try again tomorrow. Can't wait to see that bill.

Thank you all for the input.
