    Yes you would need it to back it up, you can initilize it without the pws, but you wouldn't be able to save or restore settings!

      Last time I had this problem, it was related to Cyan ROS.
      How do I isolate this problem. Print every single color CMYK at 25% coverage.
      Every sheet should be fully covered with particular color. In my case, there were no coverage on the edges of paper, only in the middle of paper. If any CMYK doesn't look good, start with that ROS unit.
      So mob sensor couldn't read cyan chevrons, because there were no chevrons (or very weak).
      My action was to clean laser mirrors, and clean contacts on flat cables.
