xerox 3040 plain copier don't feed media roll

the problem is the following: Doesn't feed media roll (frirst drawer).when I make a copy the media roll reverse turn, then display says load media roll. What can I check to solve this problem.? thanks in advance.

Well, I haven't worked on Xerox wide format machines yet, but if you'll take a suggestion from somebody who has seen an issue similar to this on other equipment, I have one.
Check the paper roll to insure there is nothing that would interfere with the sensor that detects the paper roll. In my case, the sensor that detected the roll was underneath the roll, and the roll itself had some contamination from the tape that held the roll closed for shipping. Bare paper was over the sensor when the roll was installed, but when the machine backed up the roll to align the paper before printing the contamination would interfere with the sensor and cause the machine to request a new roll of paper.
