[Misc] Blank image on Xerox 5790

I did some repairs recently, replacing an Image Exit Sensor and an Ozone cartridge. I cleared an error for Toner Gauge Reading Low. But now the machine only prints blank sheets. Whether printing from a computer, or copying off the glass, it shoots a page through but it's blank. I changed the toner cartridge. I worked through IQ3 in the service manual: checking bias harness connection and corotron connections. I cheated the door and shined a flashlight onto the developer drum -- 100% blank.

    Any ideas?

My gut sense is that there is a wire disconnected, but I don't know enough about how the image was generated. Is there a laser somewhere that shoots onto the developer drum? Is there a High Voltage Power Supply that feeds it?

Make sure that when you lock the drum unit lever, that the developer unit is sliding toward the drum and making contact with main drive unit. If either the lever is not moving the push bar to slide the developer housing over or if the developer housing is hanging on the slide pins it would not make contact with the DV drive and/or the mag brush not making contact with the drum, you would get blank copies / prints. With the lever locked, give the DV housing a push toward the drum and see if it moves more.

Try to remove developer unit and check the gear rotating developer bush, it can be broken. Today we repaired WC5790 with syptoms that you wrote. Sadly but this gear can not be ordered separetly need to change all developer unit.

You nailed it, Exok. I had inadvertantly taken off the black bracket immediately to the right of the toner cartridge, and when I put it back, I did not put the little pin of the push spring arm into the black bracket, so it was not pushing the developer unit into the drum. When I reinstalled the black bracket, it works just fine...

        Thanks for your help-
