Xerox Workcentre 5755 is going offline.

    Hi...

I have Xerox Workcentre 5755. When powering on the machine the print jobs will execute and print is coming. But after some times idle state the printer is going offline. When I give print job, prints will not come. It needs quick restart to execute the print job. How can make the printer always online? Kindly help....

You may have software corruption. I would first try reloading software via AltBoot. You can find the firmware for your machine at xerox.com

Download the DLM file from xerox.com and unzip it.

Take a blank USB memory stick (small one is better, 2G or 4G)

Create a folder on the USB stick called "altboot"

Place the DLM file (unzipped) in the altboot folder.

Log on to the copier's web page (enter IP address into a browser of PC on the network) Log on as the "admin" password 1111 (default).

locate the cloning option and create a clone file (leave all boxes checked). Save the clone file someplace you can find it later.

    Power off the copier.

Insert the USB stick and power the machine on.

After a few minutes, the software load process will start.

It is very important not to power off or unplug the copier during software load. Doing so can damage the controller board.

When the altboot is complete you will get a sheet that prints out indicating the software load was a success.

You will have to log on to the copier as the admin to turn off DHCP and reprogram the IP address (unless you use DHCP normally)

Log back on to the copire's web page, log on as the admin and upload the clone file.

If the problem returns, your clone file may be corrupt. Try the Altboot again but do not use the clone, reprogram from scratch.

I would add the folder needs to be labeled "AltBoot" with the a and b in upper case. I think depending on software version if you don't have the capitals the machine will not recognize the folder. I've run in to the capital letters truly making a difference.
