Phaser 3300mfp tray 1 roller doesn't stop rolling

Why? It's causing the spring loaded lift tray to clunk over and over. The pickup roller is only supposed to spin once but it keeps spinning feeding the paper eventually causing a jam. Solenoid? Any thoughts? It's the manual feed tray

Paper feed solenoid is sticking. The solenoids have a soft rubber pad that is supposed to cushion the plate so that it is quiet when the solenoid energizes and turns off. This pad over time gets tacky and causes the plate to get stuck in either the open or closed position. You can either remove the pads and live with a little noise or what I do is cut a small piece of clear tape in the shape of the pad and apply it over the cushions. The glue from the tape and the tackiness of the pad will keep the tape in place but not allow the plate to stick anymore. Make sure you do this to the registration solenoid too while your in there.

thanks!! It turns out we were able to increase the tension on the spring to enable the stopper on the gear to catch. Now it only rotates once.
