RISO GR 3750 "Check Paper Feed Area"

    Hello,

I'm new to RISO printers, and after obtaining one for the first time and moving it from one room to another, it now presents the error "Check Paper Feed Area". I've run test modes 01, 02, 03 and 04, and these are the results:

01: Not successful (is this the sensor closest to the machine?)
    02: Successful
03: Not successful (also not sure I'm checking correctly)
04: Successful without me doing anything.

I've also attempted to run test mode 102, although nothing happens (while pressing down the Feed-tray down button in said mode). If anyone has suggestions for how I should approach solving this issue they are very appreciated. As I mentioned, I'm a beginner to this and apologies if I've overlooked something obvious.

Edit: I should also mention that the paper feed tray remains at its lowest resting position during the whole time.

    Thanks for your time.

Sorry, I didn't understand how test mode worked:

Test mode 01: Not successful (is this the sensor closest to the machine?).
Test mode 02: Successful (with input).
Test mode 03: Not successful (also not entirely sure how to test).
Test mode 04: Successful without me doing anything.

If the print quantity display shows E60, you might find this useful:

Thanks for that. Looks as if that might be what's causing this (hopefully). Is there a test mode I can run to see which switch is being activated? Also, should I take things apart and look at the switch to fix this?

Thanks for that. Luckily I do have the technician's manual and am sort of learning via that. Is there any test mode I can run to see if these safety switches are activated/not activated? (I can't tell which state is the problematic one). Should I now look at taking things apart to reach these switches? Thanks again for your time.

Thanks for posting that. Luckily I do have the technician's manual, which I'm learning from as well. Is there a test mode I can use that tells me if that switch is engaged? Otherwise, should I be looking at taking that bit apart to see if something is wrong? Thanks for your time.

This reply is far too late to be helpful in this specific case, but for later reader stumbling upon it, I'd like to refer folks back to this thread:http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/di...ed-area-2.html, which includes a diagram of the paper feed tray safety switch. When I encountered this problem, #15 in the diagram had fallen off, and after I replaced it and checked to see that it was successfully depressing the sensor, the error code still did not disappear. Turning the machine off and on didn't help. I had to fully unplug it, plug it back in, and then turn it on to get the error code to clear. No issues since.

The issue with mine turned out to be exactly that, a bent "lower safety switch activator" (part #15). I couldn't bend it into the correct position, so I had to tape the safety switch itself it protects into a permanent state of "on."
