    Ink Compatability Issue GR1750

    Hey guys,

Long time reader, first time poster

I recently bought a used Burgundy GR Drum for my GR1750 that came with a tube of really old (and bad) ink. I recently bought some Fluo Pink to convert the drum, however I get the error C63 (Ink compatibility error) when it's inserted.

I understand that to use third party inks with the newer machines, you need to purchase chips to stick on the ink cartridge to trick it into working. However I've never had this issue with any of my other GR drums, and the tube of ink I'm using is genuine Riso ink. Does anyone know any fixes I can do to get it to work without having to source the (questionably legal) chips?

I'm happy to open up the drum body and tinker around if necessary - It needs a good deep clean anyway.

The ink tube is for RP, but fits fine, and I use RP ink with all of my other drums with no issue.

    Cheers!

If you're using RP ink then the tabs on the tube are not the same as a GR tube. I suspect your other drums have been modified to use RP ink or the RP ink tubes have been modified to work in the GR drums. Easy start, compare the tubes that work with the new one. Check the tabs, they push on buttons in the drum telling it what type of ink it is.

Now if they are the same, then I'm guessing there the switches in the drum have been modified or the dip switches on the drum pcb are set differently. I can't find the dip switch settings at this time, but I'll keep looking. But you can again compare the new with a known working one.

    Good luck.

Thanks! I'll have a look when I have a spare moment and I'll get back to you if I can get it to work
