      Re: LCD display problem

I do not know how much this will help as I've never had to adjust the LCD brightness on a Riso.
But there is a variable resistor on the panel control board that is for adjusting the contrast of the display.
If you want to try adjusting it the VR is next to connectors 301 and 307. If that works let us know, please.
I don't think it has anything to do with the brightness of the display though.
It is more likely you will need to put a working control panel on that machine.
      Sorry I couldn't help more.

Try service mode 91, I don't have a machine to test and never had to adjust one but this looks interesting, it will reverse the image

Hello, thank you for your answerThe mode 091 is used only to enter the phone number of Riso technician.

Would there be any chance you could share a picture of the display? Sometimes that helps.

Now I might have my RN s mixed up but one I worked on sometime ago had a contrast adjustment in the user controls. And darn if I remember how to get there. Good luck.

Well, then I think there could be one of two problems then:

If the machine is working except for the display, it is likely the control panel is bad. It could be that the back light for the display is burned out, or the part that provides the voltage to the back light isn't working. You can either ignore the problem or find a control panel that works. It wouldn't hurt to check the connectors between the power supply board and the display as well - there is a suprisingly small difference between a fully seated connector and one that is not.

If that machine has other problems, there may be a bad fuse on the power supply board. Test them for continuity as they don't always burn out in a way that can be seen.

Important: unplug the machine before testing the fuses or working around circuit boards! Here in the U.S. wall outlets provide about 120 VAC and I have contacted that enough that I find it really unpleasant, and that's just me. Accidental contact could be quite deadly to others I would think, especially if you live in an area where wall outlets provide 200 VAC and above.

                        Hello,
The machine works great except that the display is dark.
                        The fuses its good.
I try to install small LED around the display, since a lamp allows me a good look at the displayed messages.

That's actually kind of a neat idea.
But for the LEDs to work this way, you will need to find where the light source is for the display and install them there. I don't know where that is. Since bare LED light is pretty directional, you will probably need something to guide or reflect the light in the proper direction as well.
Also, the original light source for the display is fluorescent. If there are any local regulations for that, you will need to keep them in mind.

                              Hello,
I found the problem and I want to share with you with images ..
The problem comes from a neon lamp (which no longer lights) located in the housing of the LCD display.
