[Error Code] Riso Comcolor 7050 - Error Code S98-1801-3

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help as this has just about driven me to distraction. We keep getting the error code S98-1801-3 on a Riso Comcolor 7050. It starts up OK and then once it starts printing it will stop and display the code, there is no set amount it will print before it throws up the message, it can be 500 sheets or sometimes 40 sheets but I will say that the larger numbers now happen less and less.

If anyone can shed any light on this I would really appreciate it

Thank you very much for getting back to me, I have removed the cyan cartridge and put it back in, it is now coming up with the error straight away and will not print anything. Could it be something to do with it not communicating with the chip in the cartridge? Can you get a weak signal or something like that?

What about ink cartridges genuine or compatible*ink cartridges?

The initial problem came about trying to use compatible ink where you refill and change the chip. However since my last message I have been able to try several new chips that are confirmed as working but still do not work. I have also been able to try a new genuine cartridge and it registers there is a cartridge in the machine but only for a few sheets before the same error code comes up. Its like the machine is struggling to see the chip or they are in and out of range.
