Turn the machine off, and then hold down the "Reset" key while turning the machine on, and continue to hold the "Reset" key for a little while (5-10 seconds is long enough, I just listened for the initialization sounds to stop). Hopefully that will help.
If it doesn't, please tell us if the original document scanner appears to be working OK. (P14-115 means the scanner operation is not completed within the set time, which could either be a mechanical or electronic problem, prefer not to go down the wrong path. Thanks.)
