Riso Fr3950 and Fr2950 thermal print head interchangeable?

I have a Riso FR3950UI duplicator and the print head is starting to cause some problems. Recently an FR2950UI popped up on CL for free in my area. Does anyone know if I could use the print head from the 2950 on my 3950? I am assuming not since the FR 3950 has a larger printable area but it would be great if I was wrong about that! Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
