Riso HC5500 and Comcolor

Can we use Riso HC5500 or Comcolor without a Fiery?
What is the use of the Fiery?
Can we use HC5500 or Comcolor like the ordinary inkjet color printer to print books?
Sorry newbie here on Riso color.
Very interested to learn about these machines.

I know the comcolor can used printing from the computer. The HC probably will . Which comcolor is it? X1,GD?
