I hear that Riso is working on new drivers for the newer OS's including x64 (64 bit) but no one seems to know how long it will take them (Windows x64 has been out since 2004), and I haven't heard which machines the new drivers will cover but it seems to me that most of the newer Riso duplicators (last 10 years?) operate the same way in regards to the Ethernet interface (RISO-RINC) and a few of the current drivers seem to be the same files for the different machines.
If they have a Vista driver out for a newer printer I would give that a try... it can't hurt.
You can also download the latest RISO-RINC managment software and see if that helps. -
Anyone crack the driver code for Windows 7, 64 bit, on a Riso RZ 590? Still nothing from RISO? Got a call for this scenario 50 miles away.
Thanks in advance!Comment

I currently have a "Direct Action" into RISO about this problem and they assure me that they are "researching it".
If everyone who reads this were to file a "Direct Action" on the RISO website about this problem it might help build a fire under their development team to release a driver.

Tech support said "still working on it", left a message with our tech rep. But that's what I still figured. I'll fill out the action form as well.
Thanks again.Comment

Riso Responds!!
I got a response from Riso's "Direct Action" today, here is what they have to say:
"The Windows 7 64bit Driver for your HC5500 and your MZ790U are both scheduled to be released in April 2011.
Please note we are not the only manufacturer dealing with this, it is everyone."
Not sure what they mean by the last statement, maybe they hire an outside developer to write their software? It wouldn't surprise me if they "Outsource" for that, at least we know they will write a driver for a slightly older machine.
They also went on to suggest that I should check back on their website every so often to see if they have released the drivers sooner than the target date, so maybe running an email campaign to encourage them is not a bad idea after allComment

Holding breathe for 9 more months........sweet. When you spend that kind of cash on an HC or 790 with no drivers to use. I sent my campaign contribution in to them yesterday.
Thanks again for the info.Comment

Well they did it! I got a BETA driver disc for my MZ-790u in the mail last week and it works great on my new Win 7 x64 machine!
They said the Beta drivers for the HC-5500 PS7R-9000 will be released in a couple weeks, I cant wait to switch over to my new system (Pent Core 2 Quad) and retire the old P4 Windows XP machine.Comment
