    paper feed tray problem

run into some paper jams recently. bought new feed tires and a new stripper pad.
now i'm back to "check paper area" error messages and the paper feed tray got stuck on the top level.
the feed tray down button isn't producing any results (paper feed not coming down).
testing with code 12 the detection status for the feed tray button is fine.
any ideas? is it possible to hard reset the paper feed tray?

This model has an upper limit safety switch connected to the feed assy, you should be able to hear it click as you raise the primary feed tire assy- it also has a lower tray stop switch that is activated when the feed tray reaches the lowermost position- it sounds like the lower switch is stuck or has failed- BUT- this model also has had an issue with the tray elevator motor wires breaking internally due to the constant up-down movement of the tray- you problem may the with the lift motor, or with the lower tray switch.

Check the cable under the tray it may have worked loose, common problem.
