Riso GR3770 repair (Central NJ)

I have a GR3770 that fades the edge of the print when I print on 11 x 17. I replaced the pressure roller, which helped somewhat, but according to the technician that used to service the machine, I need a timing roller. I have a service contract with the dealer but they say there's nothing they can do because they can't get parts anymore, so I've pretty much been abandoned. Other than the print fading, the machine runs great and I'd really like to get it repaired. (Used parts are fine with me.) If anyone services these machines in the Somerset County NJ area, please let me know.

did the technician take the time to check and clean the drum unit. could be that the screens need to be cleaned.

I wasn't looking over his shoulder the entire time, but I seriously doubt it. He was too busy pulling the scotch tape off the print roller that was put there by the previous tech to try to even it out.

Is cleaning the screen something I can do myself?

I would not recommend it, as it is a very messy job. It sounds like the screen needs cleaned and the internal ink sensors for the inking system as well. They may also have to clean out the ink pump system as well. If they have an experienced tech he should be able to do the job in about 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

Thanks. I would definitely know if he'd done all that, and he did not. Since the company I've been using won't work on the machine anymore, I'm back to trying to find someone who will. I guess their theory is I'll buy a new one, but I'm not giving up that easy.
