RN2000 EP Pressure roller stuck in raised position.

Basically, bought a used RN2000 EP machine a month back, was all working fine until I installed a new drum that it didn't recognise, then the drum locked in place. No matter what i did, the drum wouldn't come out, so I dismantled it and removed it from the machine. But now the machine is not accepting new drums, they go in 99% of the way then something gets in the way. I think this is because the pressure roller is still in the raised position? I couldn't find an option to lower the pressure roller in test mode, is there a way to manually lower the pressure roller?

    Thanks,

    Jonny.

Does the pressure roller look like it's elevated? If you pull up on the roller and then let go it should just drop back into it's resting position.. But if the drums are going in almost all the way it sounds like it could be the main shaft (the peg that engages with the drum) Looking in from the front of the machine check if the main shaft's orientation matches the hole in the back of the drum. If not, you can try putting a drum in and then once you push it into the riso most of the way you can manually rotate the drum to engage with the main shaft. Once the drum's back in press the green button to release the drum again and it should reset everything to it's home position... I've had both of these problems (elevated pressure roller & drums not going in all the way) with a GR3770 and that's how I was able to deal with it. I'm not sure how different the RN is but you could give it a try.

Thanks for the help, finally got round to trying your instructions & rotating the drum and pushing it in got it to go in all the way. I immediately pressed the green button to release the drum, but got the same t01-521 error I had before. Although this time I can manually rotate the drum from opening up the top, it still won't release the drum, even if I line it up at the top. Any more help would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I might have to retire my machine already!

T01- Main motor lock 521- position A sensor does not change while the main motor is operating.

The drum is in "home" position when it is out of the machine and locked. As in it won't spin freely and the two arrows on the top of the drum point at each other.
Open up the top scanner, open the disposal jam removal area and look down at the drum. When the two arrows on the top of the drum align that is the only time that the drum should come out of the machine. The locking mechanism is under the drum handle in the vertical opening. There is a small lever that needs to be pushed to the right and the drum will pull out. Look at the key on the rear of the drum. When at home the small opening is at the top and large is at the bottom. Remove the drum and the same setup should be seen on the back wall of the machine.

As for the impression roller being up, take the back cover off and look in the lower left middle of the machine for a broken spring. Not the 2 very large springs (which could also be broken) but just to the right of them. There should be 2 other smaller springs working above the solenoid and hook.

        Good Luck

On the back of the machine, removing the panel, there is a hook with soleinoide that at times blocks the pressure roller, so it should unhook manually, entering the print cylinder now.
          Try if it works

            Hey 20GaugeO/U,

Thanks for the advice, I followed it through and got the drum to come out of the machine! I looked at the back of the drum and the key is in the position you described (small at top, big at bottom) but on the back wall of the machine the key is at an angle (the small is at 10 o'clock, the big at 4 o'clock) I've tried turning it by hand back to the home position, and pressing the button on the circuit board on the back of the machine, but it won't budge. Do you know a way of allowing it to be rotated back to the home position?

Thanks again for that last bit of information, I was so happy when the drum finally popped out .

With the back cover off rotate the drive gears by hand until the keys line up. It will be trial and error until you get it to mesh.
