So I unplugged one of the two 2-pin connectors behind the little metal cover on the drum unit in front, and then it'll stay powered up. I can even make a new master, and it'll spit out a sample. (But when I try and make copies, the drum just rotates until stop is pressed. It won't try to feed paper.) Anyway, what is causing it to go dead? A locked up pump? I measured the ohms on the suspect connector and read about 3 ohms...almost shorted. I'm not very experienced with duplicators. Anyone??

So the Drum is just constantly rotating whilst trying to print right?
If E code eventually pops up It Will Probably be the Motor control PCB C248 5101 is the Modified PCBs part number its location is behind the back cover.
Also check and make sure none of the Drum Position Sensors are out of position they are located Inside the machine At the rear of the drum -

Re: Savin 3160 (JP-1235?) goes DEAD when latching drum unit in.
Okay...the pump motor was shorted, causing the machine to go dead when the drum was latched in, because that's when it made connection with harness. SO NOW...the new pump motor runs continuously! Guess that's what caused the original one to go out. Has anyone seen this? And would the most likely cause be a defective motor control board?Comment

Re: Savin 3160 (JP-1235?) goes DEAD when latching drum unit in.
Not only does the ink pump motor run continuously, the machine comes up in Japanese, and tells you to empty master disposal box. Once you set it back to english, and open/close the disposal, it's fine, with the exception that the ink motor still runs, as if it's not satisfied. So I think it's the RAM board, or NV RAM that mounts on the MPU? board. Ricoh says it's not available. So I'm stuck. Any ideas on that? Thanks for helping out...Comment
