My Riso RP 3500 UI is having some issues. I was running some heavy card stock through it when I had a jam. After that it seems to have jumped time. When I try to make a master it says there is already one on the drum but there isn't. Also when I take the drum out it doesn't seem to be in the home position and sometime I have to turn the drum manually a short distance to get it to clear the machine. I have some experience with timing the old GR series but this machine doesn't seem to have timing marks that I can find. After reading through the tech manual I am getting the impression that the machine uses electric eyes to position the drum so how can it be out of time? I have cleaned the master sensor eye and pushed card stock through the master loading channel to eliminate those areas. The machine is not giving any error codes at all. I have tried the master reset several times to no avail as well. From all observations it seems to be out of time. If anyone knows of an easy way to re-time this machine please share. I desperately need to get this riso back into production.

If its out of time, then you may have broken drive gears. But first what error codes are you getting with the master loading error?
As for timing, there are several sensors in the back. As for correct position, there are holes that line up on the main drive and on the sector & timing cam ass'y. The manual does not tell you how to replace those gears, which RISO updated due to failures. I mightbe able to find the RISO tech note on that if you think it will help you. -

It does not give any error code it simply says that there is still a master on the drum. I can not see any damaged gears. Thanks.Comment

The specs on removing those gears may be helpful though. I will try and locate the timing marks that you spoke of. Thanks again for the insight.Comment
