[Jamming] HC5500 3kv is not feeding

    Greetings and salutations.

I seem to be having issues with our HC5500 jamming. It started randomly jamming when duplexing, Then progressed to always jamming when duplexing. Now it is jamming when the first sheet passes under the “emerge detection sensor” and gives X02-223 H1 jam. I removed the paper and checked all the sensors in Service Engineer mode 8.2.4.# and they appear to be registering properly when tested. The paper we are using is standard office paper 20LB we are running it 11X8.5 I did try switching the orientation but that had no effect.

EDIT: I would also like to add that we are now getting X02-223 H2 errors and it is dog earring the corner of the sheet on the lead edge operator side. when feeding through the Standard feed tray. When we try to print from the Trays we get X11 429Our currently humidity is 41% drybulb

Series of events that may or may not help:

The equipment that I am falling in on has never had any preventative maintenance done to it so it needs some TLC (different story for a different day) At first our sheets were being printed very skewed. We adjusted the speed (menu 8.3.2) and that was fixed. Almost immediately after that we had received an error s02-300. I remember from my training that this can be caused by the ink pan shafts needing lube. We found the shafts were bone dry as if never lubricated, after lubricating the error went away and then we noticed we were unable to print duplex. The unit would give a jam error whenever the first sheet would pass through the switch back and pass the CCD (where it is currently jamming on the first sheet.)

If any of you guys would be able to assist me it would be greatly appreciated. I am more so used to repairing on the Offset presses rather than digital duplicators and the fact that I am chasing my tail and getting different error codes makes it hard for me to pin point what is wrong.

      Are you in Ca?
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

I am currently in North Eastern Africa with the US military. They sent us to a month long course on the 5500 however it was over 2 years ago and has been about that long since I have actually utilized the skills taught in the course. Rusty is an understatement. We have a contact for our instructor (from Riso) however he is currently on vacation.

First guess is that the paper has a "lowest bidder" problem. And by that, I mean make sure the paper lays flat in the tray and doesn't have globs of glue from the ream wrapper on the short edges.

A MONTH!!!! We did it in a week I believe. Since you are trained I don't need to remind you to be sure that the duplex door is is latched closed properly (it's always left slightly open I can't tell you how many "I have duplex problems and don't know why" issue's I've fixed with just a slap of the door) I believe I've read that you've gone thru and cleaned all the sensors. I've had issue's as they build up with paper dust over time and cause errors. Be sure your belt is not walking to one side (might cause the dog earing you are getting) hmmmm what else... We don't have many of these left out there, so I RARELY seem them anymore. (they have been pretty solid since we did a great placement) Minus the sep pad replacement here and there, and emptying the waste tank. Pretty rock solid.

Of course you know to keep paper curl down.... hmmmm I'd have to look up the codes you listed.... hell I'd have to find my manual to look them up. HA HA!

For what is was, it was an OK box. I think too over priced but... with the proper placement they seem to do just fine. Just like a Rizo... don't expect "great" prints from them. Just fast and cheap. We've moved on to an even cheaper box that cost a fraction of an HC and the quality of the print is like 10 fold better.
