CR1610 black ink drum prints extra little black dots / splotches

    Hi there,

When using my black ink drum in my CR1610 the paper comes out with lots of random little black dots.
So if i print the word black, the word will come out nice and inked up but then there will be very tiny black splotches.

This has also been happening occasionally when I use different colour ink drums to print images that have lines in them. The image will come up nicely but then there aill be hundreds of extra little dots that are all in a diagonal pattern. Where the problem above is random sized ink splotches.

Any ideas? Does the drum need to be cleaned?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

It is unlikely to be the drum, as the drum has nothing to do with the production of the master, which is where your unwanted spots are coming from.
You should give the original document scanner a good gentle cleaning, including the white plastic that is over the scanner glass.
This might be silly or too much work, but if you pull the drum out and can see where on the master those spots are coming from, you can just put some tape over that and you'll be done with it. As long as the master disposal in your machine is in good shape, most of the time the machine won't care if there is tape on the master, as long as the master is already on the drum.
