I have A GR-3750 which runs fine using the soy based inks with Riso numbers in the S-43xx range. I have acquired cheap, several Riso Custom Color cartridges which have numbers S-32xx, S-33xx, or S-39xx. Some say they are soy based, some say oil based. All look identical show no fluid separation, and indicate G1 type cartridges. Am I going to have trouble using them? My local Riso reps don't remember what the 3 thousand series numbers mean.

Re: Riso GR Ink Type Confusion
If they are actual Riso bottles filled with Riso ink, just load that color drum into the machine and then load the proper ink bottle. The machine will tell you if you don't have the right ink.
Riso ink bottles tend to expand in diameter as they age though, so don't force them into the drum. Getting them out will be a chore, and tends to make a bigger mess then you'd think. -

Re: Riso GR Ink Type Confusion
All of the tubes show no indication of being anything other than 100% OEM. Dimensions, tab location, length of the triple grooves - all match exactly. I did see the difference in the black ink - the triple grooves are about 1" shorter than the color inks. Does anyone know what the difference is between the s-3xxx numbers and the current s-4xxx numbers? And will there be issues within the drum when soy and petroleum based inks get mixed as the new cartridge starts feeding?Comment

Re: Riso GR Ink Type Confusion
It appears that the tubes with soy ink insert fine. Those with petroleum base will not allow the green lock lever to lock. Those tubes have the black ring rotated 60 degrees so the lever is positioned on the black plastic, not the windows. If there is another sensor hidden away I have not found it yet.Comment

Re: Riso GR Ink Type Confusion
Sounds like the bottles containing the petroleum based ink have expanded to the point to where they can't be inserted fully into the drum, as it shouldn't matter where the green lock lever engages the black plastic ring.Comment

Riso GR 3750 '' Install Ink cartridge"
Hi to all Riso gurus, I have a GR series black drum which was not inking, we had the pump replaced and we tested it on a gr 3710 and it worked very well, at least we made over 300 copies. I then packed and sent the drum some 450 miles away to the customer to put in the machine. Immediately he inserted it in the machine, GR3750, it is demanding that ''INK CATRIDGE BE INSTALLED'', yet cartridge is in. The customer has removed and installed many times, problem persists, please advice.Comment
