If the black drum has already been used for black printing, I think you might find that the labor cost to clean all black ink from the drum and replace any parts that cannot be completely cleaned will be more than you are saving by not purchasing a new color drum.
Can i make my black drum into a colour drum? I have a FR3950 (european). Can I change the settings? I want to make it hunter green.
Cheers!
I think you need to change the circuit boards and wiring harnesses in the drum to change the color of a drum on the FR line. And then run at least a couple of reams of paper through the machine until the color looks correct.
I have never tried to change the color of a FR drum before though, so take this with a grain of salt.
Z series drums are different. It can be done. I believe its been posted on here before. Mostly got to change codes in test mode and run alot of ink through to purge out the old ink.
Good luck.
I could not find the thread...
Do you know how to do it? Black Z drum into color.
I am also interested in a service manual (rz200 ) thanks!!!!

I have the same question but about the RP 3105 EP and converting from blue to red. But I am willing to get the stripes for 1000 prints as an artistic choice.
