Converting a black MZ 990 drum to color

Hi all, I've got a spare black MZ drum that I'd like to use for red. As far as I know, they're not made to do so (different PCB, slotting for the tubes, etc), but I was wondering if any of you might know workarounds?

    thanks in advance!

    John

Z drums are not like the previous series drums. They can be switched to different color without changing parts, just reprogramming and flushing out the old ink and in with the new. I believe I've posted the procedure here before. BUT if you're wanting to go from a mz790 to a mz1090 then you need a conversion kit. Similar if you're going rz to ez.
    Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Jeremyth. Actually this particular case may differ from what you describe above; I'm not attempting to convert between two colors in a drum, I'm trying to convert a black drum to red. My local riso tech advised me that this isn't normally possible because of different PCB's. I'm just wondering if there's a workaround!

thanks again, any advice would be appreciated!

Then your local dealer doesn't know what he's talking about. Change the programming and flush out the old and in with the new. If you can't find the directions I've posted in the past PM me and Ill send them to you.
        Good luck.

Hi there, I wonder if you could send me the information on how to change from one color to the next too.
I just bought 6 drums: 3 green, 3 red and want to change them to other colors, one of which will be white and one gold.

(Btw: your other posts helped me quite a lot, e.g. wrinkled masters, skewed masters.)

            Thank you!

            Greetings Bertus
