    Brother Fabric/Paper cutter-scanner

    [Caution techno babble ahead]

Has anyone see the Brother home/hobby fabric and paper cutting with built in scanner options ?
It is directly marketed at sewing and crafts enthusiasts. According to the broacher it has 600 built in design's
and a 300dpi scanner. Cutting blades are $20(AUD) a set. $449(AUD) for the machine.

Sorry no model number shown in the broacher.

    For those in the know:
I'm just wondering if it's possible to replace the cutter blades with something like silicone-carbide and cut home made circuits board copper tracks directly out of normal PCB blanks......?
I've been looking for a straight through paper path machine for ages. One that can handle hard PCB blanks so I can print resist ink etching directly onto the copper surface of the board. If successful this machine has the potential to cut the copper tracks directly, and therefore remove the Ferric-chloride etching process.

Ya I did the training on them Brother Scan N Cut. The blades are removable and can be adjusted. As long as the drag is not too great as if you break the carriage or the carriage belt it's game over they can't be replaced. They can cut denim and plywood though so they are quite strong.

Some sold for as little as 175.00. Stencil cutter, or whatever they are marketed to be, its a little inexpensive "toy" had a good customer buy one on line, first cut, belt disengaged(came off) what are engineers thinking when making these sort of products. Was able to reinstall belt and after a couple more "cuts" it came off again, Brother just told them to pack it up and send it back. Certainly not worth the time or money for that matter, Good Luck. Plastic held together by about 20 screws.
