    Brother mfc 4100/quality problem

    The machine prints reports and faxes good,but whem making a copy the copy has void lines and lightness thruout copy. Once in a while it copies almost like it prints ,but that is exception.I put new toner in but no help(i had one in car) Any help would be appreciated

    Have you cleaned the optics? It sounds to me like there is crud under the glass somewhere, maybe the white reference strip. I have seen machines work ok sometimes when copying and then 3 copies later are bad - because the optics carriage has stopped in a slightly different spot.
    If you are hitting your head up against a wall it always feels better when you stop.

      Dirt on the CIS unit (scanner) will usually yield very distinct vertical black lines. It sounds to me like you might have a faulty CIS unit.

      Generally the LEDs on the CIS unit should stay solid for the duration of the scan, if you can see them flicker that can be an indication of a faulty unit.
      No, I will not send you Manuals, Software or your own little repair Genie to fix all your problems for you.

        Hi,
        Thanks for help,customer didnt want to spend money,so I just charged inspection fee and left it at that.
