brother mfc-9460cdn drum error

Hi

Hi I have a mfc 9460 Cdn its display shows intermittently drum error, the drum unit life bar is about 40%, I open the door clean the drums how the user manual tells and it works for a little time. Do you know the problem? If I reset the drum counter without replacing the drum unit, will it work?.

Drum error usually occurs with a over life or poor quality compatible drum or a drum that has been damaged by using poor quality compatible toners.
Has somebody reset the drum life without replacing it before ?
Is it an original drum ?
Are you using original toners ?
If the answer to Q1 is yes or to 2 or 3 is no then fit a new drum

You can try taking the drum outside an blowing it out with compressed air paying special attention to the charger grids.

Using the toner past it's life can cause problems with the drum. Although I don't know if it will cause actual errors.

Make sure to clean all corona wires, dirty wire will cause the intermittent drum error codes.
