What would cause fuzzy prints? I replaced the drum cartridge because the printer was stating that it was time to replace it, and to see if it would fix the fuzzy print problem. It didn't, and now it prints lighter than it did with the old drum. What would be causing these fuzzy prints, and why would a new (compatible) drum cause the prints to come out lighter than the old drum? Thank you for any help given.

Re: Brother HL5470DW
okay you state compatible drum are you using compatible toner. in the past i have rebuild drums and toners for brother machines, dont do it anymore because of to many issues with compatible toners not mixing well with different lot numbers. and same with residue left in machine not mixing well with new drum and or toner units. and the story goes on and on switch to oem and your problems will be gone -
Re: Brother HL5470DW
Brothers tend not to take too well to compatible toner. That being said this series has an issue with the fusers that causes fuzzy printing and paper jamming. My guess is the fuser is faulty if you are also experiencing jamming bfore or in the fuser and your drum is crap if the print is fainter since you put it in.Comment

Re: Brother HL5470DW
Most likely on this printer, fuzzy prints caused by fuser assembly. Try removing the old grease from the fuser sleeve and element and reapply with new grease. If this
does not work, replace the fuser. For the light print problem, did you try switching back to the old drum unit to see if it darker? Compatible drum units are just compatible,
they work or not.Comment
