    Canon IR2200 Scanning Problem

I have an IR2200 networked copier, it is printing and faxing fine from multiple PCs. However, when I try to scan, the ScanGear tool will not find the device, either by discovery or by directly entering the IP address.

Originally, I couldn't get it to communicate at all with the PC so we called a local service company and was told that the "print board" was bad. I did not believe there was a hardware problem and kept working at the network settings in the copier and finally got it to print and fax. I do put the machine into Online Scanning mode when I load the tool, but it just won't find the device.

Anything else I could try? Is this possibly the hardware issue that the service tech mentioned?

Silly question... you're not using COLOR Network ScanGear, are you? it won't connect.

Also, the machine does not need to be online for Network ScanGear to find it - only to use it.

Since you can print I don't think there's a hardware/Firmware issue. Don't put it in Online mode when trying to discover it with Scangear tool, it won't show as available.
Also, it has to be on the same sub-net to see it.

When you worked at the network settings what did you change? Can you print and post your user data list? Additional Functions-> Report Settings-> Network-> User Data List.

Thanks KenB, I've downloaded NWSG_v2.21 from the ir2200 download page. It doesn't say color so I assume it is not. The only other downloads are older versions.

I tried discovering when in offline mode and still no go. I've attached the user data list. Hopefully some experienced eyes can see a setting that I missed :-)

            Methinks I found your problem.

Page 2 of the config pages you posted shows "Enable Dedicated Port" is set to off.

That's got to be turned on for TWAIN scanning.

I don't remember exactly where the switch is, but you'll find it in the network settings somewhere.

KenbB ,just wanted to say thanks so much for the help! Enabling the dedicated port did the trick. Software installed OK and scanning works great.

              Thanks again.
