    HP 4700

    hi all,

need help with HP4700DN with duplex. problem: "13.12.00 jam in duplex path". i bought plenty of these printers based on recommendations that this is a solid printer which is true although it's an old model but the prints are very good. i tried about 4 printers and all has the same problem when printing duplex. duplex setting is on. i also checked "print on both side" in the printer settings. i also took out about ten duplex from my other stocks and tested it on the 4 printers but the problem is the same. it looks like the small rollers at the back side of the etb doesn't turn and can't pull the paper down causing the jam.

    please help. thank you.

You've got the duplex tray, and then the duplex feed on the etb. Replace the etb and see if it fixes it.

yes i have the duplex tray on top of the printer and duplex feed with small rollers on the etb and i already replaced it with 3 etb's but the problem is the same. the duplex feed rollers on the etb does not turn causing the jam because it cannot pull down the paper. it looks like the board in the duplex unit is controlling the duplex feed rollers. the paper comes out of the duplex first then when it goes back to the printer and pass by the duplex feed rollers on the etb, it stops/jams.

I know this probably doesn't relate to your problem because yours is feeding, but I had one 4700 that recognized the duplex unit, had a good ETB, but wouldn't duplex at all. Turned out to be the connector in the printer that the duplex unit connects to, was bad.
