Is anyone having trouble talking to HPs and other printers through the USB when using Windows 8? I can communicate fine through the network, but most of my programs have trouble printing (or sending firmware upgrades) through the USB. When I put Windows 7 on the same laptop, these things work fine. And SOME of the software works fine with windows 8... pdf's, for example, will print fine (using adobe reader) through the USB. But I can't get HP's easy firmware tool to work, and several other programs won't work with the USB.

Re: Connecting USB with Windows 8
I had a HP LaserJ 3380 the other day not recognise the USB port Win8.1. I updated the driver to 64bit for the Laptop. When I went back the next day it refuse to recognise the printer when the USB was plugged in. I deleted and reinstalled the printer driver an it started working again.
I will let you know next time I plug into that HP if it repeats the problem.Inauguration to the "AI cancel-culture" fraternity 1997...

I don't blame you.... I get sick of the updated slug fest over bloated latencyware.
How to slow down production of an entire countries National work force. Tell them to install windows O/S.
