Hello. So we all know about the already clasic "fading problem" on hp 2600, caused by the fan near the magenta lsu. My question is : is there a permanent fix for this? I have some customers with these model and i'm kinda growing tired of cleaning the laser unit.

Re: Hp 2600 - fading problem
At the risk of being considered a smart ass, my answer to this question is----HP fixed this by making newer models. As far as you being tired of doing what a copier/printer technician was born to do, which is being a machine janitor, uh, how about a 5 hour energy drink. It only takes 20-30 minutes to do this, you know.
Ok, I thought about drilling a small hole through the frame, behind the toner crtgs, to insert canned air nozzle to blow off the mirrors every other time it needs cleaning, but that would only partially clean it and the can would have to be upside down to fit in the machine to spray that pesky bottom mirror, unless you have an extra long nozzle. -
Re: Hp 2600 - fading problem
The fact that hp introduced newer machines doesn't help me at all. I'm stuck with this model for a while. The other thing, about a techinician doing what he was meant to do, also doesn't help. I'm cleaning the damn thing every 2 months. At least . The client is very far away. I was thinking that maybe, in the meanwhile ,someone found a permanent fix for this. Thanks anyway.Comment

Re: Hp 2600 - fading problem
find a way to seal the point of dust entry on the laser units. those cloth tape used for medical use might be a suggestion. use something though that you can remove easily if you have to. electrical tape glue residue is messy when you have to remove.
hockey tape also come to mind. there are probably much better ideas, but this came to mind as i thought of a solution quickly.
If it is sealed properly, i don't think you will ever be going in there again, as laser failure is not that often.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment
