hp 6450 wont print black

mother in law has a hp 6450 that ran out of black ink. she put a new one in and now it wont print in black. any ideas. thanks

download the manual and follow the instructions for installing,cleaning, alignment and troubleshooting. make sure the protective tape has been removed from the new cartridge. if all fails then the cleaning station would need servicing, aslo the waste ink tubes [cleaning the waste ink build up]
