    [Jamming] hp 8000 jam 13.5

    hi folks,
I'm working lj8000 with 13.5 jam code, i replaced delivery assem., and replaced fuser.., cleaned fuser sensor(photo interrupter),jam does clear, always half way through fuser..Im hoping not sensor board, thought I'd look to see if anyone else has had this problem, it did flash jam 13.6 once..I had seen someone mentioned transfer roller could also cause this jam....I know its super old, but its been running, and I sell them toner cart's. so I wanna keep her going...
    Thanks... !

Well, if I've got the right manual it looks like 13.5 and 13.6 errors relate to the paper not making it to the fuser on time.
Unfortunately, what you are describing makes it appear that there is a problem with the DC Controller, especially if the image is formed correctly on the jammed paper.
Try unplugging the machine for a while if you haven't already. Sometimes that helps.
Also, before replacing the Controller, wait and see if someone else shows up. I think I've maybe seen one 8000 ever, so I'm not the greatest source of info on that chassis.

If the print registration is fine then I would look into the DC controller or the sensor pca mounted on the frame. Also worth changing the toner and trying an engine test - you never know.

You're jumping the gun on this repair. Let's start with basic troubleshooting, what size paper you have in each tray? Is this happening with all trays? Print out the event log and see what other errors are occurring. On the event log there might be a 13.x error before the 13.5 with the same page count. This information will help with the troubleshooting process.

hey guys..yeah I tried all trays even by-pass still jamshalf way through the fuser, I swapped fuser, Im guessing the sensor itself, I have to see what board the sensor is mounted on, as the flag is breaking the sensor..not sure what board that sensor is mounted on..but the image is aligned properly, lead edge is fine..

Always start by going to the DC controller and unplugging & replugging every single wire.

If I remember right, there are some gears & mechanical flags around the fuser that break--especially with this old plastic. You might just pull off the covers and watch it run.

when paper does jam, I can see the sensor arm is in the photo interripter, so its mechanically doing its job, just not sure which board that sensor is mounted to, as it sticks out of the rear frame.

Can't stress this enough. With hp always make sure the firmware is updated. not saying this is the solution here, but as to get that out of the way. Also make sure all the feed rollers are cleaned properly. check the registration rollers and make sure they are cleaned.
The fuser locking tabs on these are flaky and you have to make sure it is locked in placed properly ortherwise the fuser will back out a bit and not engage and stop.
been very long since worked on this series. good machine when they are running good, but pain when giving trouble. you have to know these intimately to know their petty trips and faults.

Did you check the event log for any other error codes? When it does jams, is this happening with a single page print job? Two or more pages print job? Try this test, if it does jam on a single page document, open the cartridge door and don't remove the paper jam, close the cartridge and see if the error goes away and reset. If the error goes away, then the fuser exit sensor is at fault. If the error is still there then the sensor board is working, since the flag detects a paper is still there. These information will help with further troubleshooting steps.
