    HP CLJ 4600 Cyan Shifted

We have a CLJ 4600 with blurred prints. The PQ page shows that the cyan is shifted.

We replaced our almost new HP OEM cyan with a brand new HP OEM cyan, same shift.

We disabled the cartridge check and switched the black and cyan cartridges (both are brand new HP OEM cartridges). The black is now shifted. Just for kicks, we put the magenta in the cyan slot, then the magenta was shifted.

What could be wrong with the cyan slot to make it shift but all the other colors are ok?

    Thanks.

I had a similar problem 2 weeks ago on a 4700. It sounds like the cyan laser is stuck out of range. There is a procedure for resetting all lasers to their home positions. Run this and it should fix the problem.
I found this fix in the HP forum but I don't remember who posted it. The print engine test button may be in a different location on the 4600.
    Follow this procedure.
With the printer in the Ready state:
    Open the fuser cover.
Press and hold print engine test button on rear for 3 seconds (it's a tiny hole about half way up on the left side if the back cover of the 4700 but may be in a different location on the 4600.). Use a small screwdriver to press the button. Release the button.
    Close the fuser cover.
Turn power switch off and back on again.
The printer will go thru calibration and when completed you prints should look great again.
