HPLJ M602 Blank Control Panel, non-functioning power button.

Two issues here, the most concerning is the blank screen. No information displayed at all, nothing printing (obviously, or I wouldn't be posting this), and there is no sign of this machine on the network. Won't ping, can't pull it up via web browser, it doesn't even appear on the print server. My best guess right now is somebody decided to vent their frustrations on this thing, Office Space-style, but without any visible exterior damage. The power button not functioning tells me it's either a failed board or they've beat the hell out of this thing and disengaged the button press behind it. They've had to unplug the machine in order to power it off.

Ideas?
Any help is always appreciated.

Formatter/ Power supply

Would the power supply, if faulty, still provide power to illuminate the control panel?
it's lit, just blank.
I will look up part number for the formatter and get it ordered, just in case. If it turns out to be the power supply, I'll order that when the time comes.

Do the fans come on? Does it still go through its warm up rotation?
If both i would say formatter.

Backlight on panel but no characters on an HP usually means a problem with the memory or firmware. Can you do an engine test? Try it with the formatter removed aswell. Atleast this will separate the issue between formatter and engine.
