I've got a 6030 MFP that's throwing an error code of 58.04. The code is not in the manual that I have. I'm not too familiar with any of the HP MFP's. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this code might be?

Mystery Error Code
This may be a longshot, but I had a 5200 with the same error.
It's a "Processor Error". Check the cable from the DC Controller to the LVPS. It could also appear if the transfer belt is missing or not installed correctly.
Please tell us the fix whatever you find out.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!". -
The machine seems to be working, but it throws this code at strange times of the day or night every now and then... I put the latest firmware in it and am getting as far away from this POS as I can.
Transfer belt is good and all connectors seem to be good as well. It would help though if the freaking code was in the manual to begin with. Of course, it is an HP so what did I really expect?Comment

Mystery Error Code
thats happening a lot lately. I've got a HP 4600 error that's not in the book that I'm trying to figure out still. Seems to me they should put ALL the errors in there. I personally think they dont want anyone but their techs working on themLife should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment

The problem with HP is that they have worked so hard to make every single thing with the machine so difficult by overthinking everything. Look at their drivers alone: you get a bundled management application when all you want is something to send 0's and 1's in the right order to the device! Their overall network technology is years behind everyone else, and they're so intent on making their equipment essentially disposable that by the time the maintenance cycle comes around most people would rather throw the thing out than pay for the major kits.
I looked into HP training and it is the most overly detailed course in the world. Why they ask about fax protocols that aren't even used anymore I have no idea. HP equipment is best left to IT departments fixing in offices until they get smart and get real equipment.Comment

Sorry I have to reply to this thread, not because I have a solution for the error, although I would try printing up the error report that checking the message related and the frequency of the error for clues.
However I will say this, HP makes some great machines.
The also make some lousy ones, with the right guidance my customers are usually very happy with the units they end up in place. And when true price per page metrics are done ( includeing the cost of maintenance/service contracts/adjustments and downtime related costs) many times they are much MUCH happier with the Hp printer they have in the same room with their big expensive copier.
I've had customers decommision printers becuase they were due for a maintenance kit, and they felt that with their fancy new copier they weren't going to need it anymore, and yet 4 months down the road they are inquireing about buying them back from me because of downtime issues and service failures of their Dept copier.
Not every model is one I would recommend but to off hand say HP's are not real equipment might be a foolish thing to do, as in many cases from what i've seen the "equipment" you seem to think is real, is often in the customers mind a large machine that doesn't do everything it's supposed to most of the time, and spends more time putting them on the phone calling for service than it does working.
There's plenty of room for both in most offices, don't fear it because you don't understand it, if you don't like working on printers reffer them to a local shop that does work on printers. I reffer customers who beg me to work on copiers out to other shops all the time.Comment

Mystery Error Code
I'm not saying HP machines are bad. I would be working on something else if I thought that and HP's are 90% of what I do. Nor am I bashing HP. There are no perfect machines or manuals. If there were we wouldnt have a job. From a technicians standpoint, however, it is very frustrating to work on a machine and the error code is not in the manual. They designed the machine to display the error, they should include the error code in the manual. The manuals are better than most manufacturers manuals cause you have photos instead of drawings. I'm just venting a little bit about the changes I see occuring in their new manuals. (I couldnt even find error codes in the 9055mfp service manual. At least not in the usual places, but the operation section was awesome and I think that part was an improvement.) I'm seeing a tendency in HP, to drop product support and concentrate on selling new machines (90% plastic and cheap). I guess with this kind of economy and the competition doing the same it should be expected, but I am disappointed to see it.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment
