    HP OfficeJet PRO X476dw MFP - grinding noise at duplex printing

    Hello everybody,

    I have here HP OfficeJet PRO X476dw MFP and make grinding noise only at duplex printing. I look through internet, somebody change duplexer without effect. But the informations are very poor.
    Did anybody have this problem and resolve this issue?

      most times it is gearing in the duplex or the carriage assm.

      have you made a visual inspection of it? anything blocking travel of paper or printhead?

      what HAVE you done?

        I opened up the portion of the printer where the duplexer goes. I inspected all of the gear teeth and they do not look damaged. The grease for all of the gears is still prevelant. I ran some double sided printers and put my ear up to the printer. It is definitely louder down below where this dulpexer is than anywhere else. There is nothing blocking the print head or paper path, documents print normally except for the noise. Quality is excellent, no definicies noted.

        As you can see from this thread others have tried the duplexer, which is a FRU to no avail.

        Thanks for the info, I guess we can only try replacing the part and see what happens.
