I've had many issue with scan to email on different machines on different networks.
Often the solution is incorrect settings etc.. But if these are OK; then I've found the problem to be that often machines do not like any delay when sending an email - and authentication: requiring a user name and password for the SMTP server - can cause delays and thus the scan to email fails.
The solution is to use a SMTP service that does NOT require authentication. This could be the ISP SMTP server; or you can Google and find various services online. You have to pay a small charge - and you must register the email address the emails will be sent from.
I just HAD to post this here - I wasted DAYS before finding this solution!!!
