HP CM6040 30.01.19 error

Hi all - this is my 1st post in this forum.

We have a HP CM6040 and it is throwing up this error message 30.01.19.

2 companies look at it and both recommends replacing the printer as it is old. However, I have few users who prefer using this over a Kyocera or Fujixerox because of the colour quality.

I have seen the difference from printing a Fujixerox and this HPCM6040. The colour is totally different.

Anyone knows how to fix this issue? I can't see it in Google as well.

I have done a test of all the scanner parts and it is working.

If I send a job to this printer - it won't print until I restart it. Then it will stop working again. I am wondering if there is way to disable scanner functionality?

I was able to remove the copy/email on the control panel but error still shows up.

Appreciate any advise

• Description: The scanner lamp failed.
• Remedy: 1. Turn the product off and then on. 2. Determine if the scanner lamp turns on and off approximately 12 second after the product turns on. 3. If the lamp does not turn on and then off: a. View the lamp through the glass to determine if it is broken. Replace the lamp if it is broken. b. Re-seat the cables from the lamp to the inverter. c. Replace the inverter. 4. If the lamp does turn on and then off: a. Reseat the FFC interconnect between the optical carriage and the SCB. b. Replace the optical carriage. c. Replace the SCB.

Thanks for the quick response

I just did a test of the lamp - when I first press the test lamp - it will flash. But if I try pressing it again, it won't flash anymore. It will only flash again if I test the flatbed motor.

When I turn on the printer - I have noticed that the lamp flashes 3x.

I will try to reseat the cables today.

If not, might need a new lamp.

More likely to be Scanner control board.

I just did a test of the lamp - when I first press the test lamp - it will flash. But if I try pressing it again, it won't flash anymore. It will only flash again if I test the flatbed motor.

When I turn on the printer - I have noticed that the lamp flashes 3x.

I will try to reseat the cables today.

If not, might need a new lamp.

Well it flashes does it "jog" any? *move back and forth*
Do you hear motors try to spin? No? Motor and/or board. Might not be worth the repairs. Those have crappy scanners.

Now since IMHO repair too costly.. which models of xerox and the other. What is your usage per month.. what paper sizes... simplex/duplex..extra trays.. finisher.. options?
Frankly I hate Xerox.. but the quality has beaten most..
Oki c941e was always a great G.A. or flyer/ad/mailing type biz.

I found a brandnew scanner control board - for $150, I will give it a shot

I will update if I get this up and running.

Hi bud, we've still got a few of these in the field have learnt to love them in a strange way lol

Anyway, had this exact error earlier in the year not sure if you've ordered the SCB yet but what worked for me was just reseating the cable from the inverter to the SCB a few times and metered them out haven't heard back since.

You'll have to remove ADF and scanner glass and back panel to access parts but shouldn't be to long, best of luck
