I have a HP 4014n, it prints fine form tray 1 (Manual feed Tray) perfectly, but when printing from tray 2 the prints are very light. I was told that for some reason the paper when feed from tray 2 its not making close enough contact with either teh drum or transfer roller. Does anybody have any ideas?

Is it doing the same when you print from the control panel or only when you print from the PC? - if it is its printer related. if it doesnt then its software related. Make sure the software you are using has the latest version, upgrade, etc...
What kind of paper are you using? - make sure it is a fresh ream not one thats been sitting out all night. make sure its not inkjet paper or other sub-standard type.
Make sure ECONOMODE is off. - this should be in the settings
Try setting the toner density to a higher level. Does it improve?
Clean paper path - 50% of image problems are caused by dirty path.
Blow out laser scanner-sometimes dust or toner gets into it and blocks the laser enough to create fading.
Replace cartridge.
Replace formatter board.
Hope this helps.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!". -
